What is your favorite eco-friendly product that you own and how do you use it?

I actually use chocolate powder as a rouge.

Does your house have any design elements that keep your carbon footprint low? If so, what are they?

My house and car are 100% solar powered. The solar panels also act a thermal layer which keeps my house cool in the summer and traps in the heat during the winter.

What are two small things you do around the house to live more sustainably?

I shop the bulk bins for groceries. I invested in glass jars and then fill those up with pretzels, pasta, chicken broth, tortilla chips, etc. Reusing not only the grocery bags, but also the bags for the veggies and fruits (why not?). You save tons of $$$$ and you end up buying little to no packaged goods.

What kind of car do you drive?

Right now, I’m driving a Toyota Rav Electric Vehicle4. I charge at home using my solar power. My next car will be the Tesla Model 3 or a certified pre-owned Tesla Model S. I’m going to save $10,000 via tax credits by purchasing an electric vehicle (EV).

What is your best piece of advice for others who are interested in living a more eco-friendly lifestyle?

Start with what interests you. If clothes interest you – start shopping at thrift stores to see what you can find.

If food interests you – start expanding into the bulk bins and store your goods in mason jars.

The biggest eco difference you can make is in your housing and transportation – going solar and driving a solar powered car. That can be easier and more affordable than you think.
